John Thomas ‘Tommy’ Mammedaty

John Thomas “Tommy” Mammedaty, 68, of Mountain View, passed away on August 2, 2023, in Mountain View, OK. Tommy was born on April 23, 1955, to Ralph Emerson Mammedaty SR & Gladys Topoie DuPoint , in Lawton, OK.

Tommy was raised deep into the Kiowa traditions and they meant a lot to him. When Tommy was young he learned different crafting techniques from Big Ox, particularly feather work. Tommy loved to go to pow wows, singing traditional Kiowa songs, gourd dancing, and fishing. He proudly served in the United States Army as a construction engineer. Tommy was known for his generosity, his sense of humor and his love for the OU Sooners.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Emerson Mammedaty Sr. and Gladys Topoie DuPoint; brothers, Randy Mammedaty and Bobby Parker; and sisters, Karen Mammedaty and Mardena Bread.

Tommy is survived by four brothers: Rudy Mammedaty, Arkansas; Monte Ray Mammedaty, Mountain View, Oklahoma; Mammedaty Jr., Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Frank Mammedaty, and wife, Daisy, Cache, Oklahoma; two sisters: Jackie Hainta, Carnegie, Oklahoma, and Kim Mammedaty, and companion, Karla, Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family members.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Rainy Mountain Kiowa Indian Baptist Church in Mountain View, OK. Interment followed in the New Rainy Mountain Cemetery in Mountain View, OK.

A Wake was held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home Chapel in Carnegie, OK.

Services were under the direction of Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie, OK.
