Gerald Lee Cozad

Gerald Lee Cozad, 91, passed away on August 11, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
He was born June 9, 1934, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, to Ray Cozad and Carrie Ahhaitty Stumblingbear. Gerald grew up in Carnegie, and never forgot where he came from. He was a graduate of Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, later joining the United States Army. He was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe and a descendant of Red Tipi. Gerald was also a member of the Native American Church Kiowa Chapter. Over the years, Gerald worked in carpentry, farm labor, and just about anything that needed to be done. He was the kind of man who could fix, build, or lend a hand, and he always did it without fuss. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. 
Survivors include by nieces, Sharon Pena, Carnegie, OK, Donna Geionety and husband, Ricky, Mountain View, OK, Ernestine Berryhill, Carnegie, OK, and Jeanette Standing, Anadarko, OK; brothers, Leonard Cozad, Jr., Charles Cozad, Lewis Cozad and wife, Mabel, Daniel Cozad and wife, Lee, Andrew Cozad and wife, Cheryl, Vernon Cozad, Russell Cozad and wife, Tiffany, Anthony Ahhaitty, Aaron Ahhaitty, Dwayne Kodaseet; sisters, Kathleen Pewenofkit, Karen Pewo, and Victoria Ahhaitty; aunt, Nona Kodaseet; children, Kenneth Cozad, Howard Cozad, Shelly Cozad, Tina Wahkinney, Michael Whitecloud; special grandson, Elvin Berryhill, and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Lee Cozad; parents, Ray Cozad and Carrie Ahhaitty Stumblingbear; sisters: Vera Cozad-Buffalomeat, Naomi Svitak, Marie Moses, Ora Charcoal, May McKeithan, Beverly Cozad, Leora Cozad; brothers: George Ray Cozad, James Cozad, Larry Cozad, Joseph Cozad, Nieces: Lenora Cozad, Marla Redbone; and grandchildren: Adawnya Yellowhair, Ricky Pocowatchit and Chandra Berryhill
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, Carnegie, OK . Visitation was from 1-6 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie.
A Wake was held from 7 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie, OK. 
Interment was at the Carnegie Cemetery, Carnegie, OK. 
Services were under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie.
