Evelyn Ruth Davis Thompson, 82, passed away August 18, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 2, 1942, to Oris & Mary Ruth (Monds) Davis, in Marlow, OK. She graduated from Marlow High School, in 1960. Evelyn then attended college at Central State College obtaining her bachelors in education, and SWOSU to obtain her Masters in education. She met and married the love of her life, Amos Miles Thompson, on May 22, 1965, in Marlow, OK.
Evelyn taught music and elementary education at Mountain View School for over 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mountain View where she faithfully served for many years. She sang, played the piano, served in the kitchen ministry, and loved lots of people. She is remembered for her musical talent, wonderful cooking skills-peach cobbler, coconut cream pies, fried chicken, her caring nature and her smile that lit up the room. Evelyn enjoyed going to ballgames, following first her kids and then her grandkids. She loved to traveling, reading and she gave the best hugs!
Survivors include her children: Miles Thompson and Molly, Cache, OK, Micah Thompson and companion, Dale, Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren: Taren McAllister and Sea, Medicine Park, OK; Taylor Motta and Nikko, Fresno, CA; Tanner Thompson and Keyanna, Cache, OK; great-grandchildren: Kai, Kamdyn and Kinsea McAllister, Jaxon, Malachi and Eliana Motta, Luca and Liam Thompson. She is also survived by her brothers: Leland Davis, TX; Dale Davis and wife, Joyce, Marlow, OK; sister-in-law, Elnora Thompson, Anadarko, OK; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Thompson; parents, Oris and Mary Ruth Davis; brother, James Davis and wife, Joy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Mountain View, OK. Visitation was from 1-8 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Mountain View, OK.
Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain View, OK.
Services were under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Mountain View, OK.
