Johnney Lee Vanderpol

September 18, 2025

Johnney Lee Vanderpol passed away on September 7, 2025, in Mountain View, OK., surrounded by family. He was born on April 19, 1942, to Gerald and Dortha (Lomenick) Vanderpol in Hobart, OK. Johnney grew up in Cooperton, where he attended school and graduated in 1960. On December 23, 1961, Johnney married the love of his life, Joyce Geis, at Cooperton Baptist Church. They made their home east of Cooperton, where they lived for 63 years and were blessed with two children. Johnney was a member of Roosevelt First Baptist Church, where he taught the men’s Sunday school class for several years. Johnney found joy in his wood shop, where he spent countless hours building and creating special pieces for others, each one crafted with his hands and his heart. He served his community by volunteering for Cooperton and Saddle Mountain Fire Departments for many years. He also enjoyed cooking at the Saddle Mountain calf fry every year.
Johnney was a true farmer at heart and there wasn’t a thing he couldn’t fix, always finding a way to make things work with his hands and a knack for figuring things out. His days were spent providing for his family and tending the soil he loved, a true reflection of his character—hardworking, humble, and steadfast.
