Darell James Setzer

Darell James Setzer, 80, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born on April 11, 1945, to Ervin Andrew and Carolyn Lois (Hansen) Setzer in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Darell grew up and attended school in Colony, graduating from Colony High School in 1962. After high school, Darell attended Oklahoma State Technical School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, graduating with a degree in Diesel Mechanics. He was employed by International Harvester for 50 years.
Darell enjoyed singing in the men’s quartet at church. During his sons’ younger years, he was their baseball coach and Boy Scout leader. He also loved building hot rods and race cars, spending countless hours working on engines with his sons. Darell was always willing to help anyone in need and was an avid mechanic throughout his life. He married the love of his life, Judy Garringer, on July 12, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were happily married for 26 years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Judy Setzer of Oklahoma City, OK; children: Darell James Setzer Jr., Markita Kaie Setzer Ebersole, Kimberly Ann Murphy and husband Michael, Gina O’Brien and husband Donald; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Carolyn Setzer; brother, Douglas Setzer; sister, Wanda Jean Setzer Shaw; and sons, Randell James Setzer and Michael Anthony Chambers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2025, at Eakly First Baptist Church, Eakly, Oklahoma.
Interment was in the Alfalfa Cemetery, Alfalfa, Oklahoma.
Services were under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie, OK.
