Jerry Don Tackett

Jerry Don Tackett was born November 13, 1942, at the Chickasha Hospital to Virgil Emmett and Lula Modenia Crow Tackett. He passed away in Oklahoma City on November 17, 2025, surrounded by his wife and family. Jerry Don grew up in the Oney Community where he was active in church, FFA, and athletics. He attended Oney Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1960. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State
University and lived and worked in the swine barn. On June 5, 1965, he married Ann Davis at the Binger Congregational Church in Binger, OK. They were married for 60 years. They made their home in the Oney Community where he lived the rest of his life. He served on the Oney School Board for over two decades, many of those years as President. He farmed peanuts, wheat, cotton, hay, milo, cattle and hogs, with much of his life dedicated to peanut production. Jerry was a longtime supporter of 4-H and FFA and helped many students with their hog projects at both Oney and Binger Oney school. Jerry served as President of the Oney Little League and was always supportive of his family’s activities. Jerry attended Oney Christian Church his entire life, where he served as an elder. For more than 30 years, he served as caretaker of the Albert Cemetery and made many improvements through the years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Ann of the home; two daughters, Lisa Tackett of Bethany and Natalie Lierle and her husband Kyle of Fort Cobb; and one son, Dustin Tackett of Oney and his fiancée Shelly Rogers of Hydro. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Laken Hilmes and husband Casey of Fort Cobb, Ashton Boles and husband Tyler of Fort Cobb, and Hudson Tackett of Oney; and five great grandchildren, Harper, Hollis, and Hockley Hilmes and Chamberlain and McClain Boles.
Services will be held at the Oney Christian Church November 22nd, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Dustin Tackett and Ronnie Hodges officiating.
Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Albert Cemetery.
